Yet another arts group is closing its 2025-26 season this week: the Rock River Chamber Music Society which presents free concerts at the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River.
The featured performer is baritone Edward Vogel who is in the early stages of what looks like it could be a stellar career. Cleveland audiences will recognize him for his multiple performances with the Northeast Ohio-based Apollo’s fire baroque chamber orchestra with whom he received a Grammy nomination. He’s also performed with other noted ensembles across the country including the New York Philharmonic.
One of his specialties is 20th-century British art song, and that’s what he’ll be showcasing when he performs for the RRCMS. He’ll be performing music by an array of such composers incuding Ivor Gurney, Gerald Finzi. Robert Quilter, Michael Head, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Rebecca Clarke, John Ireland, Benjamin Britten, and Herbert Howells. He’ll be accompanied by pianist Jenny Parker.
As always RRCMS concerts are free and open to all. They are also streamed live on YouTube.
