Wild & Scenic Film Festival Goes to Bat for the Environment

Sat 3/21 @ 2-5PM, 2:30-5:30PM, 6-8PM and 6:30-8:30PM

The touring Wild & Scenic Film Festival will be making a return trip to Northeast Ohio, when the Summit Metro Parks Foundation brings it to the Nightlight Cinema in downtown Akron.

The flagship festival was founded by environmental activists in California 24 years ago, and features five days of more than 100 films from all over the world, along with workshops, talks, art exhibitions and parties to raise money for the South Yuba River Citizens League to protect the river’s watershed and restore its wild salmon.

A selection of the films tours across the country each year, and as you might expect, many of them address issues such as climate change, pollution, threatened species and healthy farming, while many others are paeans to the beauty of the wilderness and the great outdoors — a more subtle way of suggesting that this needs to be preserved, restored and protected.

There are four screenings at The Nightlite which will all feature the same films, All proceeds benefit the Summit Metro Parks Foundation to preserve and protect natural resources in Summit County for public enjoyment.

Get tickets here; they are only available in advance. Virtual tickets are also available.
