In 2018, the Cleveland Arts Prize launched another program called the Verge Prize, aimed at honoring and encouraging (mostly) younger creators needing a boost into the next stage of their careers. After honoring groups of artists in 2018 and 2019, Verge took a hiatus, returning in 2024 to begin awarding the Verge Fellowships again. On Monday March 14, they gathered at Karamu to officially honor five artists in diverse disciplines: musician Nathan-Paul Williams, writer Unity Powell, musician Sierra Delaine, actor/playwright/director Avery LaMar Pope and filmmaker Wayne Smith III.
