The Cleveland Pride Band was founded in 2003 as the Blazing River Band to bring together LGBTQ+ musicians and allies. They don’t look for virtuosos as much as for people who want to experience camaraderie in music-making and have fun. Initially they did special events such as annual Pride celebrations, but lately, they’ve been doing a season of actual concerts, taking place at the Maltz Performing Arts Center.
This week, they’re presenting a program called “Season 22, Episode 3: Movie Night.” (It’s their 22nd season, third concert of the season). The concert is focused on popular movie scores — themes from blockbuster hits than you know and love and can probably hum along with. And don’t expect them to just sit there and play; they’re promising to liven up the performance with “shenanigans.” It’s a good time for everyone who embraces people of all types.
