The Resistance Fair Is Back to Help You Find an Activist Group That’s a Good Fit for You

Sat 2/21 @ 1-4PM

Last year, as the shock of Trump’s ascension to a second term started to sink in, Democratic and progressive groups began to organize, stand up, speak out and push back. Back then, we recommended that after taking a break for self-care, you identify one or two issues most important to you and look for organizations and community groups working on those issues – find your people, as it were.

Luckily, that was when the Cleveland Heights Democratic Club took the lead and invited a host of other groups to join them at the Resistance Fair at the Cleveland Heights High School cafeteria. Representatives from organizations working to address the issues such as reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, immigration, gun safety, health care, the environment, restoring democracy to Ohio, and many more had tables and sign-up sheets. Talking with people already engaged in these causes can give you a better idea of what they are doing, what kind of work they need people for and where you might fit in.

The event was packed. And now they’re doing it again, just when we need encouragement to keep going after what’s been an exhausting year – but not without its triumphs. And a critical election is coming up in November. So don’t sit on the sidelines. Come to the second Resistance Fair, again taking place at the Cleveland Heights High School cafeteria, with more than 50 organizations signed up to be there so far. They’re promoting everything from Ranked Choice voting to public transit to overturning Citizens United and ending big dark money buying elections. You can pre-register here.
