Akron-based instrumental rock guitarist Neil Zaza has forged an impressive career for himself in the last three-plus decades. He’s released nearly two dozen albums, collaborated with a host of musicians in all genres, toured Europe, Asia and the U.S., and staged spectacular multimedia holiday shows, One Silent Night (Christmas) and One Dark Night (Halloween), incorporating dancers, vocalists, video, photos, special lighting and props. He’s always looking for the next project to stretch his talents.
That next project is a collaboration with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, a Cleveland-based orchestra which provides talented young musicians with opportunities to work with contemporary composers and professional musicians — in the past they’ve collaborated with artists such as Melissa Etheridge, Bootsy Collins, Pat Benatar and Michael Stanley. Zaza will blend his electrifying rock & roll, which is already influenced by classical music, with this orchestra filled with gifted teens in a program called “One Symphonic Night.”
The concert takes place at the Maltz Performing Arts Center in University Circle. Get tickets here.
