If you’re like me, you’re ready to scream if you see one more person posting the quote from George Orwell’s 1949 novel 1984 “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command” as if they’ve just stumbled on something fresh that no one’s heard before. It’s understandable though. All we have to do is look at how our current administration has asked us to disbelieve our eyes and ears when we can clearly see what they are provoking in Minneapolis.

So maybe it’s time for a radio play-style presentation of the Orwell novel (or maybe conversely maybe it’s the last thing you want to hear now). If you’re interested in revisiting the story, you’re in luck. Radio on the Lake, a Shaker Heights-based group that specializes in presenting classic radio plays, will be doing 1984 at their new location at Dunham Tavern, the first of a monthly series of plays they will present there.
