Prominent Local Musician Brent Kirby Starts Subscription Service, Promising 24 Songs in 2026

Brent Kirby is one of the most high-profile musicians in northeast Ohio. Not only is he known for the variety of projects he’s been involved in as a solo singer/songwriter, guitarist/vocalist in the rockin’ Jack Fords, guitarist for Gram Parsons tribute band New Soft Shoe, and drummer/vocalist in the holiday band Ohio City Singers, he’s also been a major force in promoting and booking other musicians and special events in the area. It’s hard to be part of the local music scene and not know Brent.

Lately, he’s backed off a little from all that frantic activity to take time for himself and his family.

He shares, “As most of you know, my family moved to Kirtland, OH, a little more than a year ago, to a property with some acreage, woods, and a small river. Being closer to nature and working to get the property to a point where it can be maintained has given me a gift. As I meander around the property, my mind reels with visions. Visions of paths, solitude, authentic creativity, conversations, relationships. Sometimes I can see very clearly how all the lines connect and what needs to be done. However, that perspective can get easily lost. Artistic focus gets lost to important events with family and friends, helping, mentoring, connecting others, and finding a realistic way to make a living and take care of my family’s basic needs.”

He adds, “You might have heard me say it before: ‘At the end of the day, all I want to do is write a song.’ But then, what to do with it?”

He’s decided to share some of his musical musings via a subscription service where he’ll email a song twice at month on the 1st and 16th—that’s 24 songs a year, with lyrics and photos to accompany them. A subscription is $60 for one year. With his track record, you know these songs will be high quality.

Go here to subscribe. Or you can go to one of his many shows and give him cash or check. He takes PayPal and Venmo too!
