’Tis the season — for screenings of those evergreen Christmas films that always pop up at this time of year.vAnd a pair of them with be popping up at the Akron Civic Theatre on Sunday December 14, when Wayside furniture presents two free movie events on the big screen – with free popcorn!
The 2003 Will Ferrell film Elf featuring Ferrell as an elf who goes to New York City in search of his “real” father, screens at 2pm. At 6pm, viewers will see The Polar Express, the 2004 animated film about a train that takes children to the North Pole. And just as the kids in the film are served hot chocolate, so will the patrons of the film be prior to the screenings. And themed costume contests will take place before each film with a $500 Wayside gift card to the winner of each. (Doors open one hour before each screening.)
Although the films are free, tickets are required, and can be picked up at Wayside Furniture in Akron and at the Akron Civic Theatre box office.
