Emerging out of Long Island in the late 1960s, Blue Oyster Cult have sold over 20 million records worldwide and have been a major influence on countless hard rock and heavy metal bands. Their mantra of being “on tour forever” continues, and brought their tight, polished, and diverse set to the Agora Thursday night, to a packed house of die-hard fans. Lead guitarist Buck Dharma and vocalist Eric Bloom continue to front this legacy act, now well into their fifth decade.
Opening with a pair of tracks from their self-titled 1972 debut, the seventeen song set touched on nine of the band’s studio albums and included the hits “Burnin’ For You,” “Godzilla,” and “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” along with both setlist standards and some songs only played sporadically through the years.
