Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future was the brainchild of Beachland Ballroom co-owner Cindy Barber. She founded the nonprofit to give a leg up to talented local musicians providing them with the education and resources they needed to take their careers to the next level. It’s also an advocate for policies that help strength the entire music scene.
One of the ways it supports its work is through its annual Rock Solid Gala benefit, now in its fourth year. Taking place at the Treelawn Music Hall in the Waterloo Arts District, it starts with a cocktail hour and light snacks from 6-7pm with a program starting at 7 that features a catered dinner and cash bar, performances by local musicians, short talks by music community leaders and the chance to bid on raffle prizes and silent auction items including private concerts by top area musicians.
One of the local music scene’s most tireless performances and promoters, Brent Kirby, will emcee the event, which is headlined by Welshly Arms, a local band that had enjoyed some national and even international success with its multiple albums and extensive touring. In addition, Kid Tigrrr (Jenna Fournier), who recently played bass on the road with Smashing Pumpkins, and singer/songwriter/”Astral soul goddess” Navasha Daya will perform.
