French-Swiss flutist Emmanuel Pahud, who is now based in Berlin, started playing his instrument at the age of six, and has parlayed his talent and training into a stellar international career. He became the principal flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic when he was just 22, a position he still holds. But he’s also built an international touring career, recorded more than three dozen albums, and commissioned new works for his instrument, as well as displaying master of the classics.
When he comes to Cleveland to perform at Disciples Christian Church under the auspices of the Cleveland Chamber Music Society, his program will lean toward noted names including Mozart, J.S. Bach. Cesar Franck and Clara Schumann. But it was also feature the Sonata No. 3 for flute and piano by 63-year-old French composer Nicolas Bacri.
