Maybe it’s my imagination, but it seems like Akron’s Missile Toe, who’ve dubbed themselves “The World’s Greatest Christmas Band,” have been popping up a little more often. They usually come around once a year, but in that time period you never know where the band might crop up to have some irreverent fun with beloved holiday tunes and traditions.
Once again, they’re back at Jilly’s Music Room in Akron, and once again, they’ll share the stage with a relatively rock and roll quintet called the Crones, which debuted in 2023. It features a group of women musicians over the age of 50 who still rock including vocalist Tracey Thomas, who, as the singer for Akron’s Unit 5 in the early 80s, was the princess of the area’s new wave scene.
