Bask in Euclid Beach Memories at the Site of the Former Amusement Park

Sun 9/29 @ 1-5PM

Euclid Beach Park closed after the 1969 season but the amusement park in North Collinwood is still remembered fondly by those of a certain age — and perhaps, romanticized by younger people who find today’s big theme parks at little too corporate and over-curated.

So once a year, for almost two decades, the event Remembering the Sights and Sounds of Euclid Beach Park takes place at the Euclid Beach Metroparks reservation, the site of the former park. The 19th annual event this weekend will offer the chance to walk round the park and see historical markers of where everything was located, as well as walk out on the new pier on the beach. There’ll be displays of Euclid Beach history and “cars we drove to Euclid Beach” vintage cars, books, music, videos, souvenirs, photos and T-shirts available, as well as the Humphrey Popcorn Balls and Weber’s Custard park-goers once enjoyed. The online radio station WIXY-1260 will provide the soundtrack with its 60s hits, and the Euclid Beach Rocket Car with be taking people for rides.

It’s free and open to all. Get more info here.
