Thu 2/29 @ 7PM
Through Friday March 2, Tremont’s Kaiser Gallery is showing new work by Cleveland-based artist Fatima Matar, a refugee from Kuwait who escaped with her daughter in 2018. She had a powerful show last year at Waterloo Arts, with pieces painted on old window frames she found, the only canvases she could afford. Her new show at Kaiser is called Look Closer! and deals with domestic abuse. The canvases contain small keyholes through which they can view what’s hidden, as the reality of domestic violence too often is.
Learn more about Matar and her work when she does an artist talk at the gallery Thursday February 29. It’s free and open to all.
