Four Local Musicians Share Songs at “Blues in the Round”

Sun 2/25 @ 4:30PM

“In the round” concerts are an enjoyably casual way to listen to music. They feature a group of musicians, usually a manageable three or four, who share the stage as they pass around the spotlight, taking turns playing songs and talking about the stories behind them as the other players pitch in with a harmony or backup guitar part. Often they’ll trade stories between songs if they know each other as well as the four musicians who’ll be part of Blues in the Round at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge, an appropriately rustic setting for such a concert.

Austin’ Walking Cane Charanghat is known for his mastery of traditional blues, driving by his skillful slide guitar playing. Big-voiced Becky Boyd has been singing blues, jazz and rock in the area since the 1970 and can make any song her own. Kristine Jackson also injects blues into her soulful acoustic rock. And host Ed Caner is both a violinist and a fiddler — same instrumental, different styles — who has played classical music, experimental rock and Americana/roots rock with his wife Laurie in the band Hey Mavis.

Doors open at 3:30; music starts at 4:30. There’s a cash bar for lubrication. Get tickets here.
