Benefit for LGBTQ+ Community Features “Hedwig” Film Screening

Sun 2/25 @ 4PM

The Greater Cleveland LGBTQ+ Community Needs Assessment* is hosting a community movie night (actually an afternoon & evening) at the Beachland Ballroom to raise money for LGBTQ+ service groups. The movie in question is John Cameron Mitchell’s 2001 film version on Hedwig and the Angry Inch, based on the 1998 stage musical for which Mitchell wrote the book. In both versions he played the role of Hedwig whom he described as “genderqueer.”

The movie will screen at 7pm, but prior to that there’ll be lots going on after the doors open at 4. There’ll be a costume contest open to anyone in drag, dressed as a Hedwig character or in Pride gear. There’ll be music by Cameron Mack. There’ll be a 50/50 raffle and a wig box raffle with Hedwig-themed prizes, and there’ll be resource tables from various LGBTQ+ organizations and community groups. There’ll also be plenty of time to meet and hang out with like-minded people and find your community.

Tickets are all pre-sale; none will be available at the door. Go here to get them.

*I’ve assessed your needs and a brand new Ohio legislature is at the top of the list.
