Young Vocalist Ava Preston Joins Moises Borges Band for an Evening of Brazilian Music

Sat 1/27 @ 8PM

This Saturday, the BOP STOP offers the chance to see a pair of Cleveland-area musicians of different generations and cultures making music together.

Guitarist/vocalist/composer Moises Borges has become popular in this area performing the music of his native state of Bahai, Brazil, which produced many legendary composers of sounds such as samba, bolero and bossa nova. Borges has mastered those tunes and added his own tunes, drawing from Brazilian genres, to his repertoire.

For this performance, he and his band — drummer Dylan Moffit, bassist Gary Aprile and tenor sax player Matthew Horwich — will be joined by 19-year-old jazz vocalist/composer Ava Preston, who has been astonishing Cleveland music fans with her skill and precocity since she was a preteen. She’ll add her wonderfully deft and emotive vocals to tunes by Brazilian composers like Antonio Carlos Jobin and Joao Gilberto.
