Cleveland art rockers Home & Garden don’t play often but when they have a gig, such as the one this Sunday at the Beachland Tavern, they’re worth checking out. Originally founded in the early 80s as a spinoff from the legendary Pere Ubu, they’ve been through many incarnations. But their edgy, angular music, which sounds Ubu-esque, reveals how much of Ubu’s sound was due to the musicians despite singer David Thomas’s tendency to hog all the credit. In fact, they often sound like Pere Ubu with a real singer (Keith Kornichek.)
Joining them at the Beachland will be Duo Decibel System, comprising music scene veterans drummer John Scully and guitarist Melanie “Miss Melvis” Fiorritto who music mixes punk, jazz and electronics in an aggressive brew, and pianist/singer/songwriter Anita Keys. Get tickets here.
