Lake Erie Islands Green Week Is a Chance to Learn About Nature and Have Fun

Sat 8/5-Sun 8/13

Lake Erie Islands Green Week is devoted both to protecting the beautiful natural surroundings of the Lake Erie Islands, and having fun, with events such as a pig roast, kayaking, hikes and tours and the Monday night Stargazers Cruise on the Miller Ferry.

Take a nature walk in Put-in-Bay on Saturday August 5 @1-3pm with ant researcher Dr. Rachelle Adams, who will lead an “ant hunt” after the walk. On Sunday August 6 @ 7:30pm you can take a lantern tour of the Hotel Victory grounds, while naturalist Renee Market shares some of its history; you’ll also get to see the sun set at South Bass Island State Park.

On Monday August 7 @ 1pm, there’s dedication and party at the new Massie Cliffside Preserve, and that evening, of course, the Stargazing cruise. In Tuesday August 8 tour a lighthouse at Put-in-Bay or take part in Wild Tuesday at the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center. Wednesday is the pig roast at Goat Restaurant; proceeds benefit the Nature & Wildlife Center.

And there’s more the following week, with events through Sunday August 13.
