Cleveland Museum of Art’s Monthly MIX Party Has a South Asian Theme

Fri 9/1 @ 6-10PM

The Cleveland Museum of Art kicks off Labor Day weekend with its monthly MIX Party, a Friday evening for taking in performances and dancing in the Ames Family Atrium, visiting the galleries and enjoying food and drink.

Each month has a theme and this month’s is “Raja,” based on the museum’s current special exhibition, A Splendid Land: Paintings from Royal Udaipur, which runs through Sunday September 10. The event will revolve around South Asian culture, including the food available for purchase, along with wine, beer and cocktails.

The Rajasthani dancers and musicians from Chicago’s Mandala Arts will perform at 6:30pm, with DJ Sobe warming up at 6pm and then providing music from dancing from 7:30-10pm combining South Asian-style music with familiar tunes. Guests can see A Splendid Land as well as the museum’s other offerings including Taja Deen Dayal: The King of Indian Photographers, a set of photos taken by Dayal in 1886-87 of Indian royalty and the British ruling class.
