This summer the Cleveland Cultural Gardens in Rockefeller Park are debuting a new series called World Onstage to draw attention to the increasing diversity of Cleveland’s immigrant population — which is increasing the geographic diversity of the gardens.
This week the series hosts Middle East Day, featuring performances by musicians from Persia (Iran) and the surrounding countries, with Mehmet Gencer and friends playing Persian Fusion, and Tony Mikhael and Band playing their take on the region’s distinctive sounds. Both ensembles feature violin, bass, cello, percussion and vocals.
The events take place at the gardens’ Centennial Peace Plaza and typically include food and displays of the region’s culture as well as performances. They’re free and open to all.
