Avon Duck Tape Festival Goes Light on Tape, Heavy on Music, Food and Rides

Fri 6/16 @ 4-10PM

Sat 6/17 @ 11AM-10PM

Sun 6/18 @ noon-5PM

The long-running Avon Heritage Duck Tape Festival, named after the Avon-based manufacturers of flexible repair and craft tape, is back, with a slightly different vibe to it.

Now taking place at Avon’s Mercy Health Stadium, it won’t include the usual parade or fashion featuring costumes and props created from the tape, although there will be a Duck Tape crafting tent and sculptures decorating the grounds.

But it will feature three days of music, including main stage performers: local classic rock band Custard Pie on Friday evening; students from the Rock Academy at the Ron Zehel Guitar Center in Avon Lake on Saturday Afternoon; and former frontman for the Babys, John Waite, who enjoyed huge popularity in Cleveland in the late 70s and early 80s, with hits such as “Missing You” and “Isn’t It Time” performing at 8:30pm Saturday. On Sunday at 2pm Nathan Henry will perform in the beer tent.

The three-day festival includes copious amounts of food and drink, of course, as well as carnival ride and games. While the festival is free (including all the music; bring your folding chair!) there’s a charge for a ride bracelet.
