Former Artcraft Artists Host Open Studios at Their New Home at the Twist

Sun 5/7 @ noon-5PM

More than two years ago, it became clear that the Artcraft Building in the Superior Arts District, which had been home to many artist studios for decades, was going to be sold to transition to anther purpose. The initial plan was to turn it into apartments/condos; late last year, it was announced that it would be the location of the new city police headquarters. There had already been a mass exodus of artists for other spaces by then.

One group of nearly two dozen moved to an industrial building called Twist Drill Building about a mile away a East 49th and Lakeside, dubbing themselves Artists at the Twist. That was where the long-running Artcraft Holiday Sale took place last year, its 34th year.

If you didn’t make it down then to see who’s made the move, come down for the Artists at the Twist Open Studios Show and Sale this weekend. There’ll be 22 artists there including 17 members of the Artists at the Twist Collective, plus five others also located on the building’s 5th floor.

Admission is free, and there’s free parking on the street and in the lot of Lakeside Avenue. Go to ArtistsAtTheTwist.com for more information and a list of participating artists.
