The Cleveland Classical Guitar Society sponsors concerts by a range of noted players, some rising stars just starting to build international reputations, others well established in the field.
Their next performer, Scottish guitarist David Russell, is one of the latter. The 69-year-old musician, who grew up and lives in Spain, where he became inspired to play his instrument, studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London before launching an international career that includes 17 albums on Cleveland-based Telarc Records, including his Grammy-winning 2004 recording Aire Latino.
His concert, taking place at Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights, will include music by Eduardo Sainz de la Maza, Benedetto Marcella, Vicente Asencio, Berhard Lackenbacher, Carlos Garcia Tolsa, 27-year-old Italian guitarist composer Giacomo Susani, and traditional Irish music arranged by Russell
