Verb Ballets Presents Kid-Friendly Dance Based on Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”

Sat 4/22 @ 3:30PM

Verb Ballets has just the thing for introducing your kid to dance.  The story ballet, Mowgli’s Jungle Adventures, is based on The Jungle Book, a set of stories written by British author Rudyard Kipling in 1894, set in a forest in India. There the abandoned boy is adopted by wolves and interacts with a variety of anthropomorphized animal characters. The humanized animals project themes of cooperation and community.

Verb’s version mixes Indian-style dancing into traditional classical ballet and emphasizes movement with colorful costumes, choreographed by Verb’s associate artistic director an former Ohio Ballet dancer Richard Dickinson. It will be performed at the Akron Civic Theatre at the child-friendly hour of 3:30PM.
