Want to see if some of Northeast Ohio’s leaders can maneuver on a bicycle? Or check out how they look in bike shorts? Come on down to Merwin’s Wharf and join Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, County Executive Chris Ronayne and Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman for a five-to-seven-mile bike ride in honor of Celebrate Trails Day, an event started by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy in 2013.
The ride will start and end at Merwin’s Wharf on the east bank of the Flats, with a route, they tell us, will be “highlighting the past, present and future of Cleveland’s emerging trail network.”
The leaders from Bike Cleveland and Slow Roll Cleveland will be on hand to support riders and the Ohio City Bicycle Co-op will be the to offer bike safety checks. Participants must bring a working bicycle — I’d like to see someone ride five miles on a non-working bicycle! — and are encouraged to wear helmets. All cyclists are welcome!
