New Work by Ceramicist Kristen Cliffel Highlights Walk All Over Waterloo

Fri 3/3 @ 6-9PM

There’s always something to see at the monthly Walk All Over Waterloo, with its many galleries and businesses opening their door to evening visitors. Maybe photographer Matt Schiffler will have some prints of those aurora borealis photos he took that someone told me about. Stop by his studio/gallery and find out. Maybe you haven’t seen Alex Vlasov’s I Paint Houses, constructed of building materials, at Waterloo Arts yet or Anitra Frazier’s evocative painting show Back in the Day, based on old family snapshots, now in its auxiliary gallery.

But the highlight is sure to be the opening of a show of work by the masterly Cleveland ceramicist Kristen Cliffel at William Busta Projects. Cliffel creates intricate, intimate, candy-colored worlds in her pieces that make complicated and fiercely feminist statements about how women are treated in society and how they respond. And they are lovely to look at. Opening reception runs from 6-9 p.m.
