Akron Artist Presents “Micro-Theater” Pieces at Summit Artspace

Fri 12/2 @ 5-7PM

Sat 12/3 @ 1-3PM

Kyra Montemayor Kelley is an interdisciplinary theater artist who’s worked with such Akron-area ensembles as New World Performance Laboratory, Magical Theatre Company, and Ohio Shakespeare Festival.

She recently used a residency at Akron Soul Train, which provides short residencies to artists to develop specific projects, to create a “micro-theatre production” called “recollections/the daydream.” “recollections” is the name of a series of movement-focused performances that tell stories without words. “With the emphasis on action, ‘recollections’ seeks to reveal the artistry of ordinary moments by bringing thoughts and memories to life,” we’re told. “the daydream” is the first piece in the series.

They’re designed to be performed in intimate, non-traditional spaces, so the first performance of “the daydream” will take place at Summit Artspace’s Intersections Gallery where it will have repeated performances on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
