NE Ohio’s Own Rachel Brown & the Beatnik Playboys Rock Riverdog Barn

Fri 8/26 @ 7:30PM

Oberlin’s Riverdog Barn has a packed schedule each summer of touring acts from around the country who play folk/bluegrass/roots music. But the bucolic outdoor facility also showcases many of the talented artists from northeast Ohio, who helped keep it active during the pandemic when few artists were on the road.

This week, they’re bringing back a Riverdog favorite, Rachel Brown and the Beatnik Playboys. Brown, a Lorain county teacher, is a strong pianist, talented songwriter and powerful vocalist who blends the heartbreak sound of Patsy Cline with the sass of an Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughan, and the hard-hitting raunch of a blues mama. Her band consists of three of the best veteran musicians in the area: bassist Bill Watson, drummer Roy King and guitarist Dave Huddleston.

Doors open at 6pm if you want to relax and picnic; you’re always welcome to bring a picnic basket and cooler, including alcoholic beverages. Tickets are $20. Reserve them here.
