Framed Gallery Shows Work by Florida Artist Tiffani Glenn

Fri 8/26 @ 6-9PM

Framed Gallery in the Waterloo Arts District specializes in work by African-American artists from across the country and even some Black international artists.

One of those artists is Florida-based Tiffani Glenn. Her brightly colored, often subtly humorous, stylized acrylic paintings. They draw from cartoon imagery, graphic design and fashion design to depict an astonishing range of black women and girls in various pursuits — painting, dancing, singing, getting dressed for a night on the town, hanging out with a friend. She says in her artist statement that “her primary focus is to portray her subjects as empowered and self-accepting. Tiffani firmly believes in inspiring women to be proud of who they are and embracing the things that make them different.”

Framed featured her work online back in the spring of 2020 when the gallery was closed during the pandemic, even hosting a virtual artist talk. But there’s nothing virtual now about the artwork in the show Tiffani Glenn: Rise To The Occasion: Women Empowered opening Friday August 26. The art will be on the walls for you to enjoy.
