Praxis Fiber Arts’ next show in its gallery is a group show called Embedded, showcasing three artists’ different approaches to tapestry weaving.
Chicago-based Bryana Bibbs, a graduate of the School of the Chicago Art Institute, is a textile artist and painter who combines the two disciplines to create work that’s been shown all over the Chicago area.
Sam Dienst currently lives in Detroit, after earning her MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her recent work involves uses objects and items from her life as a form of self-portraiture, which ultimately because tapestry weavings after abstracting transformations.
Andrea Vail from Western North Carolina explores objects of American society considered obsolete or unappealing to contemporary eyes, which she interprets tapestry, woven sculpture, and what she refers to as “collaborative exchange.”
The show opens with a reception during Walk All Over Waterloo Friday April 1 and remains on view through Wednesday June 15.
