British A Cappella Vocal Group Brings Music and Mission to Akron

Tue 10/19 @ 7:30PM

The British a cappella vocal group, VOCES8, says its goal is “to inspire people through music and share the joy of singing.” It’s actually a face of a music education charity called the VOCES8 Foundation which hosts programs, classes and scholarships out of its London hub. It also encourages contemporary composers by commissioning works from them.

Its eight-voice ensemble has been carrying the message abroad for the last 15 years, touring to the U.S., the European mainland, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Mexico. That ensemble will presented at Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall by the Tuesday Musical Association. Their program, “Choral Dances,” will feature music ranging from J.S. Back to Irving Berlin. And in keeping with their mission, they’ll also be doing at residency at the University of Akron’s School of Music while they’re in town.

For tickets go to tuesdaymusical.org or call 330-761-3460.
