Pungent Aromas Abound at the Cleveland Garlic Festival

Sat 8/28 @ noon-8PM

Sun 8/29 @ noon-6PM

Do you smell anything pungent coming from the vicinity of Shaker Square? That’s how you know that North Union Market’s annual Cleveland Garlic Festival has returned.

It’s a great place to pick up your planting garlic from area farmers who specialize in providing it — and you know garlic is planted in October, right? But it’s much, much more than that. All kinds of food is available from local chefs, both heavy on the garlic and not, if you prefer, which you can enjoy with local craft beers. Yes, Mitchell’s will be ringing their garlic ice cream again. You try it. I’ll get the chocolate.

And there are many other things going on to keep you amused, including Top Chef Grill Offs, live music, rock wall liming, chalk art, the Farm Bureau’s Pedal Tractor Maze, and kid’s activities such as a flower clown, a Bungee trampoline, Jungle Terry’s live animal show, and, of course, face painting.

Ths event is the main fundraiser for the nonprofit North Union Farmers Market, which launched the popularity of farmers markets in Northeast Ohio when it started 26 years ago.
