The beloved Cleveland Flea pulled the plug in early 2002, before we knew a pandemic was on the way. And while we sometimes miss its glut of handmade and collectibles vendors, we’ve got a variety of smaller and less overwhelming markets to enjoy, where we can take time to explore and chat with vendors without worrying that we won’t get to everything before they close.

There’s Made Cleveland, which started online, evolved into pop-up shops and this summer has been doing markets at the Van Aken district. It’s got one this Saturday @ 10am-4pm.

Also on Saturday @ 10am-3pm, the Beachland Ballroom is hosting its final summer Rock & Roll Flea Market. There’ll be vendors in both the ballroom and the parking lot with collectibles (especially music and pop culture-related), vinyl records, handmade art and crafts, vintage clothing and much more, most of it the sort of stuff that appeals to music fans.

Maker Town also started online last year as a way to link local artisans and shoppers during the pandemic. This summer, it’s taken over Saucy Brew Works’ Vibe Garden in Hingetown with a weekly Sunday pop-up market, through September 26.

And don’t forget the Cleveland Bazaar, which hosts markets the first and third Saturdays of each month in Market Square Park across from the West Side Market.  They’re the original Cleveland maker market, in operation since 2004. Their next market is Saturday August 21 @ 10am-4pm.

All these markets are free.
