MANSFIELD: A Dark Day for America

Could it have ended any other way? After four years of Donald Trump spewing outright hatred and disunion, what else should we have expected? A plan to attempt a coup has been in the works since November 3 and brainwashed citizens have been waiting for the word to proceed. They got it.

The certifying of the 2020 election results was the perfect time for Trump to make the call for violence, and the mob responded.  What we witnessed in the halls of Congress defines who members of the far-right happen to be, and the blame belongs on the shoulders of the maniac the insurrectionists listened to and obeyed.

These folks just exposed themselves as the domestic terrorists they truly are, but they got away with it by exercising their white privilege. How else could the rabblerousers have breached security and gained entry into the Capitol chambers if not for federal police officers initially taking a hands-off attitude while duly elected members of Congress were cowering under their desks until they were evacuated?

As mobs of insurrectionists surround capitol buildings in various states around the country we have to ask ourselves — are we turning into a banana republic? A country where mobs with guns dictate outcomes of elections?

Unamerican seditionists cannot be tolerated if we want the Republic to survive. The only answer to such behavior has to be incarceration of the miscreants. Once enough of the violent actors suffer the consequences of their actions, only then will order be restored long-term.

A number of members of the D.C. Capitol Police force should be joining the insurrectionists in federal detention camps. Clearly they stood by (and allegedly some even posed for selfies with rioters) as the mob took over and occupied the highest seats of government.

As far back as 2008, when Barack Obama first took office, talk began circulating among some on the far-right about burning the country down if they could no longer control it to their own liking. Now we know they were serious. Unfortunately, the unrest is a long way from being over.

However, the surest way to prevent other insurrections is for U.S. Department of Justice to prosecute the lawbreakers to the fullest extent of the law. Here’s what the U.S. Penal Code sets forth: 18 U.S.C. § 2385. Seditious Conspiracy. If “two or more people… conspire… by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, penalties are fines and twenty years imprisonment.”

Now try to imagine if you will, what the outcome would have been if it had been primarily black folk bum-rushing the Capitol Building? Just let it go, we’ll have to deal with this later.

I agree with your analysis and opinion of our current crises involving The Insurrectionist Movement within our nation. A threat is a threat but action taken on that threat is a crime. According to the severity of the action dictates the criminal liability and charges are either misdemenor’s or felony’s. In the case of bull-rushing The United States Capitol Building and damaging property and causing loss of life , these people should should go to prison BIG TIME ….
I will not go into who, how and why at this moment but ” a new day is dawning in our country” and a ” new sheriff in town and with some new outstanding deputies if you get my drift. I don’t like the ” wait and see attitude” but let’s wait and see on The Biden Adminstration to work their show.
