Winter Lights Lantern Festival Brings Holiday Magic to Wade Oval

Sun 12/8 @ 1-7PM

The Winter Lights Lantern Festival, taking place as part of the 26th annual Holiday CircleFest, is another of those magical , community participation events sponsored by the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Throughout the afternoon, institutions, organizations, museums and churches throughout University Circle will be hosting special holiday-themed events ranging from carolers to crafts-making to cookie tasting. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to shop for gifts in the various museum stores. There’ll be free carriage rides and the rink at Wade Oval will be open for business from 1-7pm.

Then at 5pm comes the procession, as anyone who chooses can join the parade of walkers around Wade Oval, carrying their handmade lanterns. (There’ll be lantern making at the museum from 2-4pm if you didn’t make a lantern at home). Expect to see extravagantly costumed apparitions in the spirit of Parade the Circle and Wade Oval alight with holiday decorations. The event is free and open to all.
