Tue 12/10-Thu 12/12
Each year for the last decade, Akron/Canton-area singer/songwriter/guitarist Ryan Humbert has presented his Holiday Exravaganza, a benefit taking place at the Akron Civic Theatre. And each year it’s a little bit different, with different musicians or bands or a different format.
This time the music will be provided by Humbert’s traditional country project the Shootouts. Humbert and his band — guitarist Brian Poston, drummer Dylan Gomez, bassist Ryan McDermott, pedal steel guitarist Al Moss and vocalist Emily Bates — will headline the intimate shows taking place with the audience seated on the stage of the theater close to the performers. They’ll be performing both songs from their album Quick Draw and holiday favorites, done in honky-tonk style.
They’ll be joined by local singer/songwriter Gretchen Pluess and West Coast husband-and-wife Americana duo the HawtThorns, with a difference surprise guest at each show.
This year’s recipient of the proceeds is the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank. At each performance, they’ll also be collecting non-perishable food items; they especially need boxed cereal, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned vegetables, canned beef stew and canned soup.
Tickets are $20; $35 for two.
