Cleveland Orchestra Fills Severance Hall with Holiday Cheer

Fri 12/14-Sun 12/23

The wreaths and other seasonal decorations are up at Severance Hall, and this weekend, the Cleveland Orchestra begins its annual run of holiday concerts.

There are 11 in all, conducted by Richard Kaufman, featuring holiday classics, both contemporary and traditional — from “White Christmas” and “O Holy Night,” to the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” to selections from the Home Alone and Polar Express soundtracks.

The orchestra will be joined by the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus Chamber Ensemble and Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus, along with guest choirs from The College of Wooster and the University of Akron, and actor Jamie Farr of M.A.S.H., a Toledo native, who will provide narration on The Night Before Christmas. If things go true to form, Santa will make an appearance as well.

Tickets start at $54.
