Parade the Circle’s Robin Van Lear Shares Her Creative Secrets at Art House’s Community Night

Fri 1/26 @ 7PM

Robin Van Lear is a well-known figure in the Cleveland arts community because no one else does anything like what she does.

In her role as community artistic director at the Cleveland Museum of Art, she founded and oversees one of Cleveland’s signature events, Parade the Circle. She directs the creation of the giant puppets, masks and costumed stiltwalkers whose instantly recognizable presence has graced such community events as Tri-C Jazz Fest, Ingenuity and Night Market Cleveland, as well as the stages of many local theater and dance ensembles. (She might well be inside one of the giant puppets!)

At CMA, she is also responsible for starting the autumn Chalk Festival and the Winter Lights Lantern Festival in December that’s part of Holiday Circlefest.

What well does she draw all this creative energy come from? Come to Art House in the Brooklyn Center neighborhood for its Community Culture Night where she’ll talk about her background and share some of what inspires her. It’s free and open to all — and there will be snacks! Register here.
