Dan Bankhurst is one of the area’s younger local guitar stars, just starting to build a solid reputation. Starting out like most young players as a rocker on electric guitar, he moved to acoustic fingerstyle guitar as he developed as a player and broaden his tastes, looking to guitarists such as George Benson, Django Reinhardt, Merle Travis and Chet Atkins as inspirations. He’s emerged as a finalist or winner in several major fingerstyle guitar competitions, released an album At First Sight, and performed with Kent folk rockers, the Speedbumps. And recently, he’s up and taken his talents to Nashville.
But like so many locally bred musicians, he’s home for the holidays, and he’ll be playing at Nighttown with Kevin Johnson on acoustic bass and Dan Fernandez on drums. Tickets are $20.
