The latest offering from Cleveland-based burlesque troupe/promoters Le Femme Mystique enters into the macabre spirit of the season.
A Nightmare Before: A Tim Burton Inspired Burlesque Revue at the Beachland Ballroom will present a pair of out-of-town headliners, California’s King Phantom, who will perform as Jack Skellington and Edward Scissorhands, and Cheri Blondell from Columbus, as Sally and Vampira. Blondell’s no stranger to local burlesque fans — she’s been here numerous times with her glamorous, golden-age-of-Hollywood routines.
Featured performer is Le Femme Mystique’s own sassy Noella Deville, who’ll be doing Mrs. Lovett and Poison Ivy. Other performers playing Tim Burton characters include Discord Addams & Gidget Von Addams, Bee Awkward, Lady J Martinez, Miss Holly Grail, Vina Negrita, Lilith Avalon and Rubina Mamelons, along with graduates of the Cleveland Burlesque Academy: Trick Diction, Ivana Liftya, Georgia Pearl and Lily Von Matterhorn.
Your host for the evening is none other than the troupe’s founder and the driving force behind its annual Ohio Burlesque Fest, Bella Sin. Normally she’d be performing, but she had a baby boy just about three weeks ago. Don’t worry — she’ll be baaaack. And soon.
Expect to see vendors from Le Femme Mystique’s sponsors Fear’s Confections, Sugar Bomb Confections, Visual Grammar and In the 216, as well as an information table from the group’s charity of the year, the LGBTQ Center of Greater Cleveland.
General admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Reserved seats are $20. And yes, the audience is encouraged to come in costume too!
