Star Pop, the vintage toy store on Waterloo Road, is doing something special for the street’s monthly Walk All Over Waterloo.
They’re hosting an ice cream social with free treats from Chill Pop, which is moving to nearby E. 185th Street. And local folk rockers Maura Rogers & the Bellows (some of whom live right in the neighborhood) will be playing on the street outside the store. They’re current running a Kickstarter campaign to fund its sophomore album, the follow-up to 2012’s A Good Heart Can Break. Rogers knows how to craft a vibrant, deeply felt tune, and her band knows how to wring the emotion from it. It’s a great chance to check them out if you haven’t heard them already.
