Start your month off right with an early bike ride with the Ohio City Bicycle Co-op. Every first Saturday of each month (no matter the weather) these passionate cyclists meet at the co-op. Anyone is invited to join them for these free, “themed” rides to fun places and events throughout the area. Past themes included Underground Railroad sites, bridges and bike access, rock & roll, Cleveland baseball history, community gardens and public art.
No bike? No problem! This is all about community, so if you don’t have a bike (or the required helmet) you can borrow one for FREE! You can even borrow smaller bikes for your kids and/or tandems and trailers for non-riding children! Of course, donations are accepted, and this is definitely an organization worth supporting. Don’t miss this month’s ride – it may be cold, but it’s sure to be fun.
This Sunday, the co-op celebrates Groundhog’s Day with the Marmot Meander 2014. The ride includes a trip to Clark Field sledding hill where you can bring your sleds, or rent the co-op’s new ski-bike — a ski attachment for your bike’s front tire. Mountain bikes are recommended, and a limited number will be available for rent.
