If you’re looking for a unique, historical experience in Akron, look no further than the Hower House. Tours of the home are offered Wed-Sat, giving visitors a window to Akron’s past and a peek at the lives of one of the successful industrialists that made the city what it is today. The home stands more or less unaltered, just as the owners left it.
The Hower House, a mansion built in 1871 by John Henry Hower, located near the University of Akron, has a total of 28 rooms on three different floors and 2.5 acres of land. John Hower was a very successful Akron industrialist and he traveled all over the world with his wife, Susan.
