All About Ancient Sicily

Sun 9/29 @ 2pm

This Sunday, Dr. Claire L. Lyons – Acting Senior Curator of Antiquities at the J. Paul Getty Museum – will present a number of ancient masterpieces from Sicily.  She will tell of colonies becoming kingdoms during the fifth to third centuries BC.  She will discuss the innovations in architecture, coinage, engineering, science and theater that flourished in the mix of cultures of the western Greek cities.  Their art memorializes athletic and military victories, religious rituals, luxurious lifestyles and intellectual milestones that shaped both culture and history.

The event is free and open to the public but tickets are required and may be reserved online or by calling the museum’s ticket center at (216) 421-7350 or 1-888-CMA-0033.

Parking is available at the museum, free for the first 125 cars. Carpooling is encouraged.
