Citizen Pie brought a new dining option to Waterloo Road in late 2015 when Velvet Tango Room owner Paulius Nasvytis and his partners, Claudia Young and chef Vytauras Sasnauskas, opened the wood-fired Neapolitan-style gourmet pizza place in the space directly across from the Beachland Ballroom.
The menu features just over a dozen specialty pizzas, more than half of them vegetarian, a meat and a vegetable calzone, a pair of sweets and sodas and espressos.
In 2017, Citizen Pie added a second location on Ohio City’s red-hot W. 25th Street strip. The new location is double the size of the original and also features salads and Saltimbocca Neapolitan sandwiches.
It’s also opened a slightly different concept in the former Erie Island Coffee space on East 4th Street, with Citizen Pie Roman Cafe. It offers Roman-style pizza, a focaccia-like pizza baked in advance, ready to eat or re-heat in their oven.
