If you hit local farmers markets, you’ve probably seen Kevin Scheuring aka Spicehound with his big table full of tiny packets of herbs and spices — as large an array and more diverse than big stationary spice stores. He sells every packet for just a dollar so it’s easy to try new things and you can always have your favorites fresh, the way they’re supposed to be.
He’s got exotic chiles and salts, plus herbs, spices and other flavorings, from all over the world — many organic. (They’re labeled if you’re strict about this). Scheuring is also manager of the Coit Road Farmers Market, so you can always find him there on Saturday mornings year-round, as well as Wednesdays in the summer. He travels to other area markets as well.
