It is amazing how many musicians on the national and international jazz scene have roots in Northern Ohio, and one of the best returns to Nighttown in Cleveland Heights for his annual hometown concert this Sunday.
Guitarist Rick Stone, born and raised in Parma, will be perform two shows at 7pm and 8:30pm, backed by two talented Oberlin jazz students, Matt Adomeit on bass and Nate Friedman on drums. The cover charge is only $10.00.
Stone was a high school rock guitarist (Valley Forge High Class of ’73) whose life changed after seeing jazz shows at the Old Smiling Dog Saloon on West 25th Street. He went on to study jazz at Tri-C then Berklee School of Music. Since the ’80s he has been based in New York City where he has received praise as not only a musician but also as a music educator.
