Party like it’s 1969

Sat 1/28 6PM – midnight

WRHS Somewhere In Time

Something has happened at the Western Reserve Historical Society. Their attitude about history has gotten a lot more interesting lately. Take their annual fundraiser, for example. They’ve decided to take us back to a different decade each year and have some fun with time travel. For their 2012 bash, on Sat 1/28, they recreate the 1960’s, complete with Janis Joplin’s psychedelic Porsche, a 1960’s costume contest (we’re guessing sandals and tie-dye, bellbottoms and earth shoes), plus a chance to bid on an original Hector Vega-designed Stratocaster in the silent auction.

But if you’re a VIP you can come early at 6PM for an exclusive opportunity to experience a Sit-In located in the WRHS library, with cocktails and a dinner featuring cheese fondue, Lobster Termidore Tartlettes, Beef Short Rib Wellington, Confit of Duck and Frieda Kaplan’s Vegetarian Wellington, plus Alice B. Toklas Brownies, Ambrosia Fruit Salad Shots and Rice Crispy Lollipops. Top it all off with a VIP cocktail: a Harvey Wallbanger.

The party continues for everyone until Midnight with music & dancing to the Sounds of Motown and other 60’s tunes, Open Bar with Heavy Hors d’Oeuvres, cool costume and dance contests, and Get Hep Swing teaching everyone the latest 60’s dance moves.

Needless to say, this ain’t your grandma’s Historical Society. See you there?
